Before & After Your Appointment

Preparing to come

Keep the following guidance in mind leading up to your appointment.

Please come with clean dry skin, free of any excess oils, lotions or deodorant.
If this is your first appointment, please make sure hair is between 1/8” to 1/4” (about 7 to 10 days growth is ideal, up to 14 days is best). If your hair is longer than ½” please trim using an electric trimmer with a 1/4” or 1/2” guard, or you may simply use scissors over a comb.
Exfoliation is great, but please do not exfoliate the day before, the day of, or the day after treatment!
It is best not to tan or exercise prior to treatment.
No creams or lotions applied 24 hours prior to treatment; except for a water based lotion such as Alexandria Professional Restore Hydrating Lotion.
We suggest you do not schedule your appointment while on antibiotics, or it coincides with your menstrual cycle, as you may be more sensitive.
If you tend to be pain sensitive you may take an extra strength Tylenol (not Advil) 30 minutes before treatment. The only numbing cream that is recommended is Emula which may be purchased over the counter and may be used 30 minutes – 1 hour before your appointment.
Do not use razors or depilatory creams between treatments, as this will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth and to have smooth healthy skin.

Afterward

Here are some helpful tips for after you get home.

If your skin is more sensitive you may experience temporary redness, this is normal and most commonly disappears within an hour or so after treatment.
Tiny red spots may appear on the skin for a few hours after treatment. If this should happen do not be alarmed, they will go away. This skin spotting is an indication that the hairs have been removed from the follicle and it is normal after treatment.
Avoid touching your freshly sugared area with dirty hands.
We recommend waiting 24 hours before exposing your skin to the sun or infrared lamps.
Avoid hot baths, hot tubs, and pools 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid perfume soaps or products with chemical irritants and makeup 12 hours following a facial treatment.
Do not apply any of your own creams or lotions for 24 hours.
Skin must not be rubbed or scratched after treatment.
Clients should avoid wearing tight fitting garments immediately following treatment.
Clients should not exercise immediately following treatment as perspiration may irritate the skin directly after treatment.
